Sky and Chip, abandoned by their parents, join the growing army of children who have taken to eeking out a living as Pickers on the rubbish tips, living in shanties on the outskirts of the rich city. Even the help Dig, their guide and champion, gives them cannot persuade Sky to accept her lot. She refuses to remain a throwaway. She must find a way out. But how?
