A shadowy force hunts for clues about a Magician who up until now has been exploring desert. Everything goes terribly wrong the winter before that Magician begins his new life as a Professor. With the help of his friends, Simon Parrion experiences loss, love, anger and other emotions. While he searches for a way out of the shadowy presence and away from his shadowy past, another Professor travels into enemy lines at the request of a strange letter. As Leon Blackwell fulfills odd errands given to him by his boss, the Headmaster, he finds that there are only a few ways to deal with criminals. As the plot thickens, Simon finds himself facing his own death and Leon finds a truth that he did not set out to find.
