Emyni duma Duseg, the thirteen year old daughter of Duseg the Mudbaker, lives just outside of the ancient Mesopotamian city of Nun-Ki. Emyni wants more than anything to be a normal young girl with a normal life – but Emyni is starting to discover that she can no longer hide or control the magickal power that burns within her.

When her farm is attacked and her father kidnapped by brigands she is forced to use this power in an attempt to defend herself – an act that reveals her true nature to a superstitious and fearful world.

The mystic Bes, a deformed dwarf with a mysterious history, rescues her with the help of Mel’k, skilled soldier of the King. Together the three set out on an adventure to track down the brigands, rescue her father, and discover the extent of Emyni’s power.

Along the way they will meet new allies and new enemies and, hopefully, survive the deadly deserts and thick jungles of the ancient world.

“Firedancer” is an experiment in “micro-writing.” Rather than release the entire book once it is completed I am releasing the book in roughly fifty-page sections. The hope by doing this is to get some instant feedback from my audience as well as allow me a more relaxed writing schedule.

I hope you, the audience, enjoy this book as much as I enjoy writing it – and please feel free to put that feedback I was talking about on the review page.
