Detective David Jackaman was once just a regular homicide detective. Well, to call him "regular" might perhaps do him a slight disservice. He was actually pretty good.
Unfortunately for him though, his previous case (a brutal, very unnatural murder) ended up changing him in more ways than one. A year later, and he is a hollow man, racked with guilt; a shadow of his former self.
At his lowest ebb, he is approached by some mysterious people offering him a shot at redemption. But why exactly do they want to help him? And why does he keep seeing monsters everywhere? Caught up in what many an observer might regard as psychosis, can a washed-up former detective really go bat-to-bat with his own demons - and perhaps a few others as well?
