Missing Grace is a fictional short story (3,996 words) about a friendship of two young girls growing up in a poor, northern California town in the seventies. The town is still divided by race so the friendship between these two girls, one black and one white, is difficult at best. Missing Grace is told in the past tense as one of the girls who became a famous music star is reminiscing with a reporter who is interviewing her.
