The second installment of Edie Fake’s graphic serial Gaylord Phoenix begins with the gaylord phoenix, “born of crystal claw,” mourning the death of his dark-haired lover, who comes back to life only to become involved with a sexually adroit crocodile. Fake’s story gracefully unfolds with the help of her patterned drawings punctuated by text.
