Phyllis Gotlieb's second collection of poetry was nominated for Canada's Governor General's Award for literature in 1970. The title poem, a long complex lyrical meditation on childhood and growing up, takes up nearly a third of the volume, with the rest comprised of short lyrics in various modes.
