Beautifully illustrated by De Witt Whistler Jayne, the book follows Daniel Boone from his Pennsylvania boyhood to the saving of Boonesborough from an Indian attack to his settling in Missouri. Chronological order seems to follow accepted versions and the narrative is friendly and adulatory.
