Savanna must take on an ancient form to topple the invisible barriers dividing her people on Earth's back-up planet of Beven. Under the watchful eye of a predator cat, later revealed as the man, Talcole, she seeks a way to deny power to their common enemy. SoulTak has the ability to corrupt the shifting cloaks that allow Beven people to transform into pumas or raptors, and who knows what beasts he could create. Savanna must decide where she belongs. Her lifelong desire to become a diplomat, soaring over all the peoples in her hawk form, will be tested. She'll need the enduring strength of family.
