Following Hay

"Following Hay" is a collection of eighteen poems and one prose story, "Amish Quilt," centering on life moments spent on a farm, with horses, hay, and music. The writing brings the reader close to activities such as shoeing a horse, following the seasons of planting, haying, putting wood up for the winter. Several poems spotlight less than idyllic relationships, later resolved, one describes the early days of AIDS, and many share what we learn, often unexpectedly, from one other.
