Rachel has rejected the immortality offered by Sascha, refusing to drink the blood that would complete the change. Sascha ignored Rachel's plea to be left to her humanity, and turned her in a desperate attempt to save her life at any cost.
Sascha believes that he can reverse the process, return Rachel's humanity, and possibly earn her forgiveness. There are those that would stand in the way of his research, and prevent any possible redemption.
