"In general it is not my intention to reconstruct Bosch's life - it would be pretentious for anyone to claim to know him. A lot of data has been lost in five centuries and artists from so long ago usually have not left behind that much. Therefore, it is not the idea to give a complete overview of his body of works. It is not an essay. Some lost works are hinted at in a playful way. More important is to show that what we know as authentic Bosch paintings, consists of teamwork. And that everything was commissioned work, reflecting the culture of the time rather than personal views of the artist. Therefore, there is also quite some comedy going on here.
