Hyperion Cantos

The Hyperion Cantos form a tetralogy of science fiction novels by Dan Simmons. The Cantos is an epic science fiction series of novels. Set in the far future, and focusing more on plot and story development than technical detail, it falls into the soft science fiction category, and could be described as space opera. Of the four novels, Hyperion received the Hugo and Locus Awards in 1990; The Fall of Hyperion won the Locus and British Science Fiction Awards in 1991; and The Rise of Endymion received the Locus Award in 1998. All four novels were also nominated for various science fiction awards. The author has recently stated that a movie is in the works. A film adaptation of the series titled Hyperion Cantos is being produced by Warner Bros. It is going to be based on Hyperion and The Fall of Hyperion novels. The director is Scott Derrickson, the screenplay will be written by Trevor Sands and Graham King is the producer.
